From uncontrolled growth to progressive withdrawal
During the last 50 years, in the world, we have witnessed an unparalleled growth of intensive livestock production.
This acceleration has been cemented in increasingly productive animals, improved through genetic selection, consequently altering their immune response capacity, which has led to establishing as usual practice the indiscriminate use of antibiotics, both as preventive and as growth promoters.
These practices have led to a growing worldwide alarm about the risk of massive use of drugs in animal feed, since they cause a resistance to antibiotics in humans, the last link within the food chain.
In order to combat this public health problem, increasingly restrictive measures are being applied in Europe and the US for the use of drugs, especially antibiotics, to the point where their prohibition is on the horizon. At the same time, it is unquestionable that the weight of livestock production in the world, and the amount of population that depends directly or indirectly on it, is enormous, so a retreat without an alternative could become an even greater problem.
For many years now, many solutions have been explored for reducing the use of drugs, such as acids, essential oils, natural extracts, etc. All of them more or less effective.
Well, today we bring to the market a natural solution, reliable and economically profitable, in order to be able to replace antibiotics in animal husbandry, in their non-curative use.
It consists on the application of a series of extracts from the olive industry, with sufficient resources to cover the expected great future demand. Any animal species can be raised without using antibiotics. From Maslina, a pioneer in the extraction of extracts from the olive tree and in its application in all kinds of species, the following products are offered:
Maslinic acid: to be used throughout the life of the animal
It is a terpene, an element present in the waxes that cover the fruit and the leaves of the olive, and which has the following properties:
a) Inhibitory effect of serine proteases: enzymes synthesized by all parasites of the genus apycomplex (all coccidia, such as Eimeria, Isospora and Cryptosporidium, in addition to Toxoplasma and Neospora). Thus, it would be possible to replace all coccidiostats with this natural product.
b) Growth-promoting effect: both as a consequence of the previously described mechanism, which prevents sweeps and inflammations that hinder the correct assimilation of nutrients, as well as the optimization of protein assimilation. You will get much healthier, effective and lasting livers.
c) Effect on lipid metabolism: thus, it has been determined that maslinic acid causes reduction of hepatic steatosis, fat cover, and a higher proportion of fat infiltrated.
Hydroxytyrosol: also to be applied continuously
It is a polyphenol present in the olive, and with the following properties:
a) Biocidal effect: with a very high biocidal activity against: Clostridiumperfringens, Salmonella typhi and the fungus Aspergillus.
b) Antioxidant activity: it has a high activity of free radical uptake, allowing a better balance of assimilation of Omega 3 and Omega 6 acids.
c) Natural stimulant: the products also help the animals in critical phases of stress, in startups or episodes of self-induced E'coli.
"The use of these products will allow us to continue to feed animals in a cost-effective way without endangering the health of the consumer, giving the producer a commercial advantage in a market that is increasingly demanding differentiated, sustainable and healthy products"
